People living in warm climates are more likely to develop kidney stones. The stones develop when salts crystallize in the kidneys, and that often is due to dehydrating, which is more likely in warmer areas. States in the southeastern US report 50% more cases of kidney stones than do northeastern states. New risk: Global warming would expand the "kidney-stone belt" to possibly 56% of states by 2050 and 70% by 2095.
